Losing touch and what proceeds

I have fallen out of touch with people in my life for a multitude of reasons. Sometimes of my own doing, and occasionally and sadly against my wishes. Every so often I am reminded that I lost that persons friendship and it is somewhat hurtful.

Today I got a notification that a friend I haven't been able to catch up with in a while had left me a message on one of my networking site profiles. I got a sudden flash of joy to know that perhaps this person I thought had chosen to remove me from his life was thinking of me.
Unfortunately it was a spam message from his phished account.

I hate to say it, but it hurt again to be reminded that I will most likely never have him as a friend again.
